Thank you for visiting our website and taking time to learn about Cytokinetics. As you will see, our company is engaged in very important research and clinical development activities that promise meaningful impact to benefit patients worldwide.
These are very exciting times for our company as we enter our second decade and witness our extensive work in drug discovery now maturing. Drug candidates in both our therapeutic areas, cardiovascular and oncology, have now advanced into pivotal proof-of-concept clinical trials.
We have developed a business model deeply rooted in the biology of the cytoskeleton and also in what we believe are opportunities in multiple areas of grievous disease. While we have drug candidates for the potential treatment of cancer and heart failure in development, we are also looking to leverage our extensive knowledge of the cytoskeleton and expert research capabilities in additional areas such as asthma, hypertension and neuromuscular conditions such as muscle wasting. We believe that this proper balance of continued research and development is vital for the sustainable and robust future of the company.
We are a company driven by innovation. To that end, we employ trained and experienced scientists and other personnel who share our commitment to the expeditious advancement of novel therapeutics. In doing so, we subscribe to the highest scientific standards. Pioneering science ensures we are designing truly differentiated drug candidates from those currently being marketed or in clinical development.
Today, we are a company with four novel products in Phase I or II clinical trials and partnered with two of the most respected names in the pharmaceutical industry, Amgen and GlaxoSmithKline. Our lead compound, CK-1827452, is a novel cardiac myosin activator that in Phase I clinical studies demonstrated dose-dependent improvements in cardiac function in healthy volunteers. We believe that this novel pharmacological mechanism may also translate into therapeutic benefit for heart failure patients. Our other therapeutic area program, are in oncology. Arising from our research are three clinical compounds, ispinesib, SB-743921 and GSK-923295, focused to solid and hematological cancers and in particular, breast cancer and Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
I am personally quite proud of the team we have assembled. Our management is comprised of experienced veterans from top pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies with direct and highly relevant experience navigating the development and commercialization hurdles that lie in front of us. We are supported by a knowledgeable Board of Directors and insightful Scientific and Clinical Advisory Boards that share our passions and vision for the company going forward.
I am pleased with the achievements we have made to date and even more excited and optimistic about Cytokinetics’ prospects. Again, welcome to our website. I look forward to updating you on our progress and prospects going forward!
