Job Title: Group Leader / Sr. Group Leader / Associate Director, Research Analytical Chemistry and DMPK

Description:
We are currently seeking a Group Leader / Sr. Group Leader / Associate Director to lead our Research Analytical Chemistry and DMPK Department including responsibilities for physical property assessment, separation sciences, ADME, research DMPK, and formulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, direct and manage Research Analytical Chemistry and DMPK Department including responsibilities for physical property assessment, separation sciences, ADME, research DMPK, and formulations.
  • Design strategy and implement execution of this strategy across the department (project, people, space, equipment, systems and work processes) for the support for all Discovery projects.
  • Provide “hands-on” leadership to the group in analytical method development, characterization and optimization of research compounds chemical, ADME and pharmaceutical properties from hit profiling through candidate selection.
  • Provide expertise and guidance for experimental design.
  • Provide assistance with in-depth quality review and interpretation of results.
  • Recruit, train and develop all analytical, formulation, purification, DMPK/Bioanalytical scientists and associates.
  • Contribute to setting direction for the project teams overall and with respect to specific disciplines in Analytical Chemistry.
  • Interface effectively with other scientific disciplines especially pre-clinical and clinical development.
  • Transfer methods and protocols to pre-clinical and clinical development and collaborate in refinement activities when required.
  • Manage department budget, including laboratory supplies, external research grants, capital expenditures, contract research personnel and projects, and external project spending.

    Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or related discipline with 7-10 years of drug development industry experience in Analytical Chemistry and DMPK.
  • Demonstrated record of excellence, 2+ years in leadership and management of analytical, DMPK, and pharmaceutical chemists.
  • Demonstrated record of driving drug discovery projects from hits to the selection of clinical candidates and the subsequent initiation of clinical trials.
  • Expert knowledge and hands on experience with state of the art Analytical Chemistry, all DMPK concepts (i.e., preclinical pharmacokinetics, PK/PD relationships, metabolism, bioanalysis, and in vitro and in vivo techniques applying to these concepts), and pharmaceutical sciences.
  • Experience in delivering effective analytical support to Discovery and Development Chemistry.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and lead scientists and associates.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage external contractors to meet/exceed Company goals. Must have strong negotiating skills and business-oriented.
  • Well organized and computer-literate.
