Description:
An immediate opening exists within the Department of Biology. The individual will join a dynamic group supporting multiple projects developing novel therapeutics for diseases where muscle plays an important role. This position requires hands-on experience purifying and characterizing enzymes, with particular experience in the area of muscle metabolism, and with responsibility for developing assays to identify and evaluate small molecule modulators of novel therapeutic targets. Responsibilities •Help design, conduct and manage experiments to discover and characterize novel drugs targeting muscle. •Design and conduct experiments to characterize the interaction of small molecules with targets and place them into a therapeutic context. •Serve as an internal source of scientific expertise regarding the biochemical aspects of muscle metabolism •Manage and analyze experimental data; Present experimental results at internal meetings and scientific conferences •Train and supervise research associate

Job Requirements:
•A Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Muscle Biology, or a related discipline with 0-5 years of postdoctoral experience •Extensive knowledge of the metabolic pathways of muscle •Experience purifying and characterizing metabolic enzymes from native and recombinant sources •Experience measuring enzymatic activities using a variety of methods •Experience with quantitative analysis of biochemical data, and the ability to present quantitative information to broad audiences •Ability to work independently and in a team environment •Ability to be flexible and positive in adapting to changes •Excellent communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary project teams Now is the perfect time for you to consider a move to Cytokinetics where you can put all of your skills to maximum use.
